Home Schooling

We are in our second year of My Father's World curriculum. We are studying creation to greeks as our core for bible and history. We LOVE doing this together!

We started a new art curriculum this year, God and the History of Art by Barry Stebbing. We had our first lesson today. We discussed that art is a learned discipline. The more you practice, the better you will become. Yet we need to understand that frustration is a part of the process of becoming an artist. Throughout history, great artist were frustrated by their own artwork and destroyed it, artist like Monet and Michelangelo. We talked about Joni Eareckson Tada who became paralyzed when she dove in shallow water at the age of 17. As time passed, she committed her life to God and began doing artwork by drawing and painting with a brush held between her teeth.

The girls assignment was to draw a picture of a butterfly the way Joni does. I believe the girls had much more respect for Joni's art as well as the benefit of having use of their hands.
